Pay attention to momentum and what the candles say. If you're going to trade short term, you got to be able to read those candles like the back of your hand. Exit the trade when momentum slows, keeping in mind volume and momentum are different things.

You mentioned a pullback can kill a trade for those who set breakeven stoploss. Ok, awesome. So, you know what to do then, right? Don't set a breakeven stop loss. BE changes your odds (and more often than not to worse odds). Let's say you start with 1:2 RR with 10 pip SL and 20 pip TP.
