Do traders really need to understand the markets?

Do traders really need to understand the markets?

After learning forex trading for 2 years now, i came to the conlusion ‘the less you know about the market, the better’. There will always be new things to learn ofcourse, but i guess those things will just keep you learning without actually trading. When i was a total beginner i could not find an edge because i wanted it to be perfect, so i was adding new things everytime.
So my question is, is it okay to have an edge that is so easy even ‘non-traders’ could use it? After backtesting this (with good risk management ofcourse) it was profitable in the long run. But is this too simple?
I would like to hear your guys opinions about this! Thanks in advance and good luck trading!

Do bakers really need to understand the ovens? Do cleaners really need to understand the chemicals? It probably would be better if they did but I'm sure some can still do their job.
